Here-is-what-I-did-yesterday
- 06:36 read Job 40:8 "Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?" -actually, all the time, whenever we complain
- 07:27 is attending devotion from Habakkuk. Last night MST exegeted Ex.15:2 "He is _my_ God ... _my father's_ God, and I will exalt Him."
- 07:51 heard about the prophet's prayer in "Q&A, pleading case, and dig in." The 75 yrs-old preacher was jailed for 13 years in VN.
- 07:56 heard the ending of MS Duong D Nguyen's devotion "From questions to submission": you will have understanding to obey in joyful submission.
- 08:06 is overwhelmed with a sense of heritage in the company of the persecuted pastors.
- 08:52 couldn't believe the fun he observed at breakfast. These old pastors reminded me of a youth camp.
- 09:40 mused about the difference between priests & prophets. But in JC message, we can find both (and the Kingly msg too)
- 09:51 heard the fear of ending their lives badly from the pastors. I also heard they retelling the former glory God did in the past in VN church.
- 10:03 wonders about the relationship between repentance -> power. How would that works w/ "All of life is repentance" & repent of our "goodness"
- 10:08 heard about the pain of church split from a pastor.
- 10:14 mused about the relationship between unprocessed hurt/pain and the danger of extremism.
- 10:21 wonders why wouldn't people build in the DNA for church-planting as the proactive plan for church-splitting.
- 11:15 listen to MSN training the pastors on "Everyday Commission", pretty good.
- 11:35 mused about the relationship between programatic evangelism (departmental) and the missional church (enterprised).
- 11:47 is confronted with the nature of "High Profile" problem in ministry (from MSN)
- 11:53 realized that programatic system producing resources to maintain the system overhead. Is it good or bad? How can we keep it low?
- 11:59 realized that I am more unstructural postmoderned than 10 years ago. O yeah, I forgot that the materials presented here date 1999!
- 13:59 tasked to a former imprisoned pastor (MS Sang). He knew me when was a kid, going to his village every summer.
- 14:21 wonders what's the affects to ministry if we don't understand our past (does it have any value beside thanksgiving nolstagia)?
- 14:37 heard from MS GHT "you have to know that you are called, and willing to be sent." I think I am neither in that sense.
- 14:43 wonders about the citation of 1Ti3:15; Ga2:9; Rev3:12 (the pillars are used for the church & future).
- 14:48 wonders if you can really assess the quality of a shepherd by looking at the flock or not. I also wonder about what blind submission brings?
- 14:50 doesn't really get the 4 theological aspects of the denomination
- 15:25 heard reports at the District now.
- 15:35 thinks about Timmy when discuss about issues relate to circa 2030.
- 15:48 observes the small group discussion, high value in ministry: authority of Scripture in life, keep yourself & the flock, Gospel's sacrifice
- 15:56 keep my mouth shut during the discussion (what do I know, I am the noobe here).
- 16:06 wonders if the VN culture affects the dsicussion process: we always give what the authority wants to hear. We nationalistic than gospelistic
- 16:33 heard the struggle of finding replacements, and musing about how would the ancient Christians "recruited" & discipled their "replacements"
- 16:40 thinks that the Gospel is the power for the ancient Christian to "recruit" and disciple their "replacements". Now do we know how this work?
- 17:50 @williamle8300 @shlogz I am at the Vietnamese District (of the CMA) pastor's conference for the western region of the US
- 19:37 starts the last session at the VN District pastors' retreat (CMA). I am looking forward to home now. What would this conf add to my life? Hm
- 19:44 heard MST explained "blessed are the pure in heart, for they'll see God" as helpful to sexuality (based on the work of a French theologian).
- 20:20 is challenged to experience the super-natural-effects ministry. But how? We all long for that, but isn't that by God's grace and mercy?
- 20:27 realizes that humility preceed faith.
- 20:37 is haunted by the words of my homiletic prof @TodBol
- 20:49 is reminded of the simple 3 clarity checks for preaching: "Who Christ is?" "What He has done?" And "How are we to respond?"
- 21:02 is done w/ the conf. Glad to go pack up for the drive home. It's a long long road ahead, but He will take us home (Phil.1:6)
- 22:34 is home, back to work tomorrow. G'nite ya'all
